ODYSSEAS was created by the Action for Civil Society to answer one of the great challenges of our time: how can we trust the digital content we see every day?
Through an open platform, the project helps citizens and journalists verify the authenticity of photos and videos in a more transparent and secure way.
Its goal is to limit disinformation, protect the truth, and strengthen responsible journalism. With ODYSSEAS, technology becomes a tool of trust, collaboration, and democratic information.

You shoot from inside the app. The moment is recorded exactly as it happened. No filters, no editing.
Certify
Timestamp, location and device signature are embedded automatically. Any change to the file becomes immediately detectable.

You share a photo that nobody can dispute.

Odysseas lives in your pocket. The moment something happens, you open the app and shoot. The resulting file isn't just a photo. It's a piece of recorded testimony.
Device signature
Every photo carries a unique fingerprint of the capturing device.
Tamper-evident metadata
Any edit to the file automatically invalidates the certification.

Source, not algorithm
Authority is the citizen who was there, not an AI model. Technology serves testimony, it doesn't replace it.

Metadata is embedded at the moment of capture, not after the fact. Open standards, independent verification at every stage.
Democratic technology
Software in the public interest, open to scientific scrutiny. No profit-seeking middleman between the citizen and their truth.
Odysseas is delivered as part of the PLATO programme, with a total budget of €3.1M. It is funded 90% by the European Union and 10% by the Bodossaki Foundation and the NGO Support Centre Cyprus.
